CAPITALISING | DECEMBER 1957

By installing the first automatic signals control device in the Capital the traffic police has put another feather in its cap. The device, which has been installed as an experimental measure, has many advantages. First it should eliminate the complaint that the amber light is kept on by the policeman for too short a period. Now it will always be on four seconds at the Parliament Street crossing.

The authorities propose to install the new device at the Janpath-Rajpath crossing too. The two-light feature can be safely experimented upon there since traffic is comparatively lighter.
