New Industrial Policy to be Job-Oriented | 6 January 1990

A substantial change in the country’s industrial policy is to be effected by shifting the emphasis from capital-intensive industries to employment-oriented or labour-intensive industries.

Disclosing the industrial growth strategy for the eighth plan, the deputy chairman of the planning commission Mr. Ramakrishnan Hedge, said the number of centrally sponsored schemes would also be reduced. The extent of reduction would be decided by the end of the month.
